Luz – properly Praia da Luz – sits on the western Algarve coast between Lagos and Burgau. It is small enough to feel like a village and established enough to have a year-round community, good restaurants and a beach that people come back to for thirty years. This page is a plain guide to what you can buy here and what it costs.
Luz has a long season, roughly April to October, plus a solid winter market of long-stay northern European visitors. Walkable-to-the-beach apartments and three-bedroom villas with a pool let best. The single biggest value driver is whether the property already holds an Alojamento Local licence – transferable licences are worth real money and we always check the register before you commit.
Get a NIF and a Portuguese bank account, instruct an independent lawyer (never the seller's), sign the CPCV with a 10% deposit, then complete at the deed usually six to ten weeks later. Full detail is in our international buyers' guide, with the paperwork checklist in our NIF and bank account guide.
Tell us your budget and how you plan to use the property, and we will line up a viewing trip that is worth the flights – including anything coming to market shortly. Browse the current listings or contact Luz Villa Sales. If Luz is a little tight for your budget, our Lagos market guide and Sagres and Vila do Bispo guide are the natural alternatives.
